Virtual Coffee

Hey there! I’m Megan and I use she/her pronouns.  What are yours? If you haven’t already, click here to schedule a time for us to have a virtual meeting here. This is a great opportunity for you to tell me about your accounting and tax situation and what you’re looking for.

Introductory Survey

If you’re feeling good about this, I also encourage you to complete this quick, Introductory Survey. This survey tells me some of the basics, will let you upload your most recently filed tax return, and give me the opportunity to get to know you a little before our coffee date.

Consent to Disclosure

I talk about this a lot: if you work with another professional, be it an attorney, financial advisory, another accounting professional, or someone else entirely, I will need you to give express written permission to be able to do so. You can click this text to complete any Consents to Disclosure that are necessary.

Onvio - Secure Client Portal

Once you’ve completed your Introductory Survey, I can set up your secure client portal with Onvio. This portal is your first stop to send me information, including tax returns, tax documents, and anything else you need me to have. Remember, email isn’t a secure method of transmittal. Anything that might be sensitive shouldn’t be sent through email.

Depending on what we’re working on together, I may use a few other systems, including Cognito Forms and Xero, to request information from you. All of these are secure, encrypted, and come straight to me.

Accounting Software Access

If you own a business, it’s inevitable that you’ll use accounting software to record your financial activity. The links below will take you to instructions on sharing your cloud accounting with me. Don’t use one of these systems? Let me know and we’ll talk about it.

FreshBooks – be sure to select the Accountant user type.

Xero – be sure to selet the Advisor role.

Quickbooks Online – you’ll need to add me as an Accountant user, not a regular user.

New Client FAQ

Practices and Procedures

So many rules to follow! Crayon Advisory, LLC strives to find a balance with clear, consistent communication, security, bureaucracy, efficiency, and your own experience. So, what’s it like to work together?

Scheduled Meetings and Calls

As much as possible, I schedule out phone calls and meetings. As a client, you’ll have access to the most available Calendly appointments I have (no, you won’t find a link to this on the website).

I recognize this frustrates many. Email, voicemail, and even Voxer are the solutions to this. Email, voicemail, and Voxer messages with specific questions will often result in an answer to your question before you’re able to get onto my calendar. And, of course, if its an emergency, tell me your preferred method of responding and I’ll do my best. That said, in 20 years of experience, no one has died from taxes or accounting.

Communication Systems

Besides email, voicemail, and Voxer, we use secure methods of communicating to both request and send information. These include Onvio, Xero Ask, and Cognito Forms. All of these systems are encrypted and secure.

That First Meeting

That first, introductory meeting is just that: an opportunity to get to know each other. You’re getting a feel for me and how I work with clients. I’m getting a feel for you, your needs, and if we can serve them. No, I don’t charge for this. If you’re not looking for an accounting and tax partner, you may consider booking a single, ad-hoc consultation instead.

Bring all of your questions to that first meeting. The more information you can provide me by completing your introductory survey, the more I can give you during our initial meeting.
